| Carrying out the nationwide tests is a matter of the federal states in Austria. The “Niederösterreich testet” test campaign is generally aimed at all people aged 6 and over who have their permanent residence, a place of work or a temporarily place of residence in Lower Austria. This means that hotel guests can also take part in the tests during their stay. It is only important that you use the hotel address and not your home address when beeing asked. Minors must be accompanied by a parent. Independent of this test campaign, there is also the possibility of testing in one of the participating pharmacies in Austria, but you have to register at the respective pharmacy. In Lower Austria there is a PCR self-test system with PCR gargle tests. The tests can be picked up and handed over to SPAR supermarkets during opening hours. If you submit the test by 10 a.m., you will usually receive the result on the same day. About 10 minutes away by car there is also a test street in Vienna that offers PCR gargle tests every day from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m.: https://coronavirus.wien.gv.at/teststrasse-erlaaer-schleife/. We currently recommend using this test option, as the evaluation is currently the fastest at this station. Beside these campaigns, there is also the possibility of PCR tests in participating pharmacies, medical practices and laboratories, but they are not always for free. Please note, however, that it can take up to 24 hours until you receive the result of a PCR-test! In addition to the PCR test offer, there are also test stations where antigen tests are carried out. Here you will usually receive the result within 1 hour, but the antigen test is only valid for 24 hours. |
